The Beach Is My Happy Place

Wacko's first time on sand too

I was once asked to write about my vision of a perfect day. To me, it is like a weekend when you don’t need to set your alarm clock at all. It will be time spent with my loved ones. We’ll go to the beach and take our dogs with us. In the morning, we will go for a swim. By midday, we will have fresh seafood for lunch. In the afternoon, we’ll take a stroll along the beach together with our dogs, Wacko and Matilda. We will stay there and watch the sunset, with cold drinks to boot. The whole day would just be so beautiful, I’d never want it to end.

For my 27th birthday this year, I am thankful that I actually captured that vision. I spent my birthday weekend in Tali Beach, Batangas with my family, dogs included. I started the year researching the best location when I chanced upon Jo & Johnny’s Dive Inn. They have the most reasonable rates, small dogs are allowed, and it is near the main beach. No wonder they are always fully booked in the summer.

It’s just a 2.5-hour drive from Makati, which is really convenient. When we arrived in Tali Beach, we were amazed by the beauty of the location. We spent the rest of the afternoon exploring the beach areas after we have settled in our very spacious family room. We took our dogs to the main beach, where they also swam in the sea. I have to say, it has always been a dream of mine to take my dogs to the beach ever since we got them five years ago. It really is one of the cutest things to see them swim and try to brush off the sand from their paws. We went back to Jo & Johnny’s by sundown and watched the sunset from the pool area. With a cold drink on my hand and my family nearby having so much fun, it was really the best way to end the day.

Ending the day well

The following morning, we went to the other beach areas like the Pebble Beach and the Marina for more swim time and photos. On the other side, my parents were having their own fun buying the fresh catch of the day from the local fishermen. I have every reason to believe that haggling with vendors is my mom’s true sport. I also knew my perfect day will not be complete without my mom’s excellent cooking. Good thing our room came with a kitchen. Needless to say, we feasted on seafood for lunch that day.

I miss these

Our family had such a great time on this mini vacation. It was everything I would have hoped for. My perfect day encapsulated on that weekend. Seriously, I didn’t want it to end. I can only look back on those photos and hope I’ll get to have more perfect days in the future.
